Mitooma District Releases PLE Results

Mitooma District Local Government officially revealed the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results at Mitooma Town Council Hall on February 5, 2026, with an 88.5% pass rate.

The 4588 pupils passed the 2025 PLE from both government-aided and private primary schools. For thousands of families, the outcomes show that investing in basic education can pay off, provide access to secondary education, and break the cycle of poverty. 90.1% of the 2461 Female candidates passed and 89.3 of 2188 male candidates passed which shows that females passed higher than males. Education officials say this reflects the impact of sustained advocacy for girl-child education, particularly in rural communities where dropout rates were once high.

Despite the better headline results, district leaders were open about a few weaknesses. Mitooma District Chairperson Hon. Karyeija Benon voiced alarm over the 203 ungraded candidates which he said that poor performance can be avoidable. He urged education department to visit the worst-performing schools, alongside members of the district executive, to engage parents, teachers, and local leaders in recovery strategies.

Tushabe Jane, Senior Inspector of Schools, pushed headteachers to reclaim their roles as community leaders for their schools. She advocated for increased parent involvement, greater monitoring, and resource mobilization at the school level, stressing that academic achievement is increasingly dependent on collaborations outside the classroom.

She added that education department should cooperate with district stakeholders in mobilizing and sensitizing communities against school drop outs so that whoever enrolls in primary one completes the primary cycle. She finally appreciated partners who have helped to enhance education standards in the district such as Reading Association Uganda (RAU) which has improved reading skills among learners.
